About UsWe seek to serve over 40 churches and more than 50 self-help groups in the north of Malawi.
During 2015 we have helped launch 23 Workstart Groups, in partnership with UK based Aid for Trade Foundation. Aid for Trade enables people from poor communities to work together to establish strong Workstart Groups. Members of groups commit to support each other through a business training programme, led by a suitable facilitator. The group learns about a range of income generating opportunities, what it takes to run a business, and essential trading skills and know-how. Some go on and set up their own business, others will form business cooperatives. If finance is hard to obtain then the programme includes setting up a Savings & Loan Association. |
Bishop Thomson and Beauty Chirwa come from Nkhata-Bay district and are Founders of Abundant Life in Christ church established in 1992. They have five children, Emmaniel, Carol, Victor, Deborah and Jan.
Life in Christ Bible College (RG 20754/IM/5 2005) was launched, and also the Life Crisis Centre (FBO) has grown out of their church community. It is a registered charity dedicated to helping orphans, widows and people struggling through disadvantage. Thousands of people have come to Christ through our ministry, including several armed-robbers who are now Pastors. We helped to establish the Prison Fellowship Malawi and good Samaritan organisations. Our Life Bible Secondary School offers disadvantaged children free schooling, and we try to assist others where we can with school fees. We distribute animals, such as pigs, goats and chickens to self-help groups; and bicycles, fishing nets and farming needs for income generating activities. We teach disadvantaged people tailoring, carpentry and computing skills. |
